2016-17 Rescue Robotics Competition Registration
The program is collaboration with UCI, Vital Link and the Orange County School Districts. The mission is to provide STEM education in a hands-on, classroom/project-based learning environment through student participation in a Rescue Robotics Program and Demonstration. The program is open to middle school, high school, and college teams.
The program will help students display computer programing skills, as well as skills in analysis, research and testing, and personnel/cost management that is integrated into the classroom curriculum. During the demonstration phase teams will build one to five ground, quad copters, or fixed wing rescue robots using open source material resources which may include: Arduino, Rapberry PI, servo motors, smartphones, RobotC, Cloud storage. Using maps, GPS devices and power of deduction, robots will navigate through a natural outdoor environment to locate x and y coordinates to find RFID victim chips on a 50 x 50 foot grid. The team that finds the most victim chips at the end of the period will be recognized.
